CANDLE CARE
- The candle's first burn is the most important. Let the wax melt to the edges, or almost to the edges for coconut wax candles, (2-4 hours) for an even burn and to prevent tunneling during the life of the candle..
- Mind the burn time. 2-4 hour sessions keep the fragrance strong and extend the life of the life of the candle. Burning for less can cause tunneling and burning for more can overheat your candle and decrease it's life.
- Center the wick. Gently reposition the wick after each burn for a steady flame next time.
- Repurpose. Wash the jar with hot, soapy water and reuse it for pens, tiny plants, or another candle.
SAFE BURNING TIPS
- Keep burning candles in sight. Do not leave it unattended. Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep.
- Trim your candle’s wick to just under 1 cm each time before lighting. This ensures a clean burn and helps prevent the flame from getting too large or too hot.
- Be sure to keep any burning candles at least two feet away from any clothing, books, curtains or anything flammable.
- Keep lit candles away from drafts, ceiling fans and any air currents.
- Keep lit candles away from children and pets.
- Place candle containers on a stable, heat-resistant surface large enough to catch any melted wax.
- Extinguish a candle if the flame gets too close to the candle holder or container.
- Keep your candle clean. Remove any wick trimmings, matches, or debris or other foreign matter from the wax pool. Foreign materials can catch fire and can be hazardous.
- Place burning candles at least 3 inches apart from one another.
- A burning candle should not be used as a nightlight.
- Burn your candle for no more than four hours at a time, to prevent overheating.
- Don’t burn a candle all the way down. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when a 1 cm of wax remains in the container.
- Remember that the jar of a lit candle will be hot to the touch. Do not attempt to quickly handle or move a candle jar that has been lit for a length of time.
